Smart Energy for Europe Platform (SEFEP)
SEFEP, the Smart Energy for Europe Platform, is a European non-profit organisation committed to the goal of a fully de-carbonised, reliable and predominantly renewable power supply in Europe before 2050. It was founded by the European Climate Foundation and the Stiftung Mercator in 2010, with office in Berlin, in order to help tackling the twin challenge of solving the global climate crisis and safeguarding sustainable energy security. SEFEP shares a sense of urgency with many actors in the field: The political and investment decisions of the next 5-10 years window will crucially determine whether our energy future pathways will be sustainable – respecting natural and resource limitations, safeguarding political, economic and social feasibilities. As an intermediate goal, SEFEP foresees a 70% share of renewable electricity by 2035.
SEFEP´s European activities aim at strengthening individual stakeholders, broadening and deepening the knowledge-base on European energy issues, and promoting open-minded and solution-oriented dialogue and cooperation between different groups.
